Bridge Loan


A short-term commercial real estate loan intended to cover an interim period between two more permanent loans. A typical example is a loan to pay off a construction loan on a commercial project before more favorable permanent financing can be arranged. (2) a shortterm residential real estate loan obtained by a buyer to allow the purchase of a new house before the buyer's existing house is sold, often collateralized by both properties.
